New!! Video of the Stations of the Cross

In April 2017 Paul Seckleman arranged and recorded the Stations of the Cross at All Saints Church, Southend-on-Sea. The recording took place during the Lent sessions in 2017 with members of the congregation of the Parish of Southend. The arrangement is an alternative and slightly shorter version than the text, which you can meditate on the stations below on our website.

Stations of the cross

Traditionally ...

Every Saturday during Lent there will be a service of the Stations of the Cross in All Saints at 10am. This is where we remember the Passion of our Lord and use fourteen depictions of the Passion Story from Jesus being condemned to death to Him being placed in the tomb.

Each station has a response, a Bible reading, a meditation and final prayers.

These pages on the website use pictures of the Stations at All Saints and the same order of service that is used at All Saints. These can be used at home, on their own, or to complement the Saturday morning Stations. A short meditation is provided, but it is, perhaps, more important to meditate yourself on the meaning of each station and what it means to us now in this penitential season of Lent. All the stations can be used in one go or you may prefer to pray just one a day. Clicking on '1st Station' below will take you to the first station. Each Station has a link to the next station. Also there are links below to each station so you can always start wherever you have left off.

Before starting use these prayers.

I, when I am lifted up, will draw everyone to myself
Lord remember me when I come into your kingdom(x3)

This day you will be with me in paradise
You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth(x3)

Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone
But if it dies it bears much fruit(x3)

Father into your hands I commend my spirit
Truly this was the Son of God(x9)

Lord Jesus Christ, who promised to refresh all who come to you in trouble, we offer you our prayer at the hour of your most bitter Passion. Mercifully grant that all we have begun in your strength may be finished for the glory of your name
AMEN
