Jesus meets his mother

Jesus meets his mother

We adore you O Christ and praise you
Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world

Then Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, 'This child is destined for the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be opposed so that the inner thoughts of mnay will be revealed - and a sword will pierce your own soul too.

Indeed, a sword must have pierced the soul of Mary.
Mary is a thinker. At the birth of her son, shepherds hurried to see him. Magi travelled and brought gifts. Mary 'pondered all these things in her heart'. She is an example of what is means to be as distinct from what it means to do. We all sometimes need to just be, yet at a time like this to just be and to have to ponder the imminent execution of your child is just so unthinkable.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now at at the hour of our death.

Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est
