Jesus is placed in his tomb

Jesus is placed in his tomb

We adore you O Christ and praise you
Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world

His body was laid in a rock-hewn tomb where no one had ever been laid. It was the Day of Preparation, and the women who had come with him from Galilee followed, and saw how his body was laid.

'Christ, when he was lifted up did not say "I draw some people to myself", He said, "I draw all, all, ALL"'. (Archbishop Desmond Tutu)

It is often said that we are an Easter People and we cannot have Easter without Good Friday. But who did Jesus die for? A select few? The spiritually superior in some way? Certainly not. As we have said at each station, through the cross he redeemed the world, not just bits of it. The cross is for all. From it Jesus interceeds for us saying, 'Forgive them, for know not what they do'. Even those who nailed him to the cross, those who beat him, those who whipped him, those who mocked him. They are all redeemed. Come the Sunday they will all be Easter people.
We pray that the world and your church remembers this. We are prone to forget it.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now at at the hour of our death.

Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est
(Where charity and love are, God is there)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever.
